Fourth of July is approaching, what is your song of the summer so far?

Ask any music lover that question and I guarantee you will hear a number of answers. It’s that time of year when the days are longer and the nights are warmer, and there’s always a tune to top off the vibe. Whether you’re catching fireworks at the pier, surfing waves on a beach, or hosting a BBQ with friends, TSFJ is here to make sure you have the right sounds in order. Luckily, this summer has been filled with nothing but gems to get any party started. Naturally, we all love the classics from the likes of Amerie or DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (your playlist isn’t complete without these artists), however here are ten of the newest summer bangers to add to your 2017 Fourth of July playlist.

DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, “Wild Thoughts”

Another one! King of Snapchat and super producer DJ Khaled is known for dropping summer anthems. Joining forces with bad girl Rihanna and Trapsoul prince Bryson Tiller, Khaled and the crew keep things spicy with a smooth sample of the 1999 hit “Maria Maria” by Santana and the Product G&B. “Wild Thoughts” is not only a great introduction to listeners who may not be familiar with the genius of Santana, but also shows how Khaled can not only make hits, but reinvent classic ones.

TLC feat. Snoop Dogg, “Way Back”

Girl group TLC is back with their final album and the project’s first single “Way Back” is a fun-loving backyard boogie for any party in July. The visual for the single shows T-Boz and Chilli enjoying life at house party filled with food, booze, and of course a game of dominoes. Not to mention, Snoop Dogg is one rapper I wouldn’t mind partying with, so it only makes sense that he spits a few bars on the track.

Calvin Harris feat. Pharrell, Katy Perry, and Big Sean, “Feels”

Producer and DJ Calvin Harris is taking a new approach on his latest album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. Fans are typically used to his EDM and house music sound, however it appears he’s learning lessons from the likes of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars with more of soulful pop sound. His latest single “Feels” brings the vocal arrangements between Pharrell and Katy Perry along with a smooth verse from Big Sean. Although the video showcases all the artists feeling the music on a fantasized oasis, the visuals in “Feels” helps make it the perfect track for a beach getaway.

Kali Uchis feat. Jorja Smith, “Tyrant”

Breakout vocalist Kali Uchis is back with a fiery new single, “Tyrant” featuring U.K. singer Jorja Smith. The production alone on this track will have any listener dreaming of a Caribbean vacation, sipping libations and dancing with friends.

Masego, “Navajo”

Virginia musician Masego who coins his music as “Trap House Jazz” is back looking for love on his latest single, “Navajo.” The singer is known for effortlessly blending elements of trap, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B, to a point making listeners question how can one combine all these genres without flaws. Add any Masego album to your playlist and you can’t go wrong. So if you’re caught up in summer love, then “Navajo” is the track for you.

2 Chainz feat. Migos, “Blue Cheese”

There is no doubt that the city of Atlanta has been dominating the rap game for quite some time. It’s no wonder 2 Chainz joined forces with hip-hop trio Migos on his latest single, “Blue Cheese.” This is just one of the songs from his latest album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music that will put all your listeners in a groove, just make sure your red cups are filled properly!

Tyler, the Creator, “Who Dat Boy”

It’s been a few years since Tyler, the Creator blessed fans with his last album Cherry Bomb. Tyler was teasing fans all week about releasing something special at the end of June, however fans were clueless if it was new music or a new documentary. He sent fans into frenzy when he dropped his latest video for “Who Dat Boy” featuring A$AP Rocky. The song initially gives an eerie horror movie feel, but once the beat drops, you know it’s a Tyler banger.

Big Boi feat. Adam Levine, “Mic Jack”

Although ATLiens may be waiting awhile before Outkast drop a new album, one-half of the duo Big Boi is back with “Mic Jack” from his latest project BOOMIVERSE. Along with some sweet vocials from Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, Big Boi flows effortlessly on this track that gives a throwback ‘80s feel.

Vince Staples, “745”

Long Beach MC Vince Staples is coming off the heels of his sophomore album Big Fish Theory. Although the majority of his project is geared towards electronic club music, “745” captures more of the classic West Coast sound that hip-hop listeners know and love. It’s the perfect song to listen to on a roadtrip as Staples says, “I’m in that 745 / Hope I can come scoop you up ‘round 745 / Slide ‘ round with my drop top up or down, you down to ride.”

Calvin Harris feat. Frank Ocean and Migos, “Slide.”

Okay let’s just say Calvin Harris dropped the ultimate two-stepping party anthem album of the summer so far. Honestly you could put this album on repeat at any shindig and your guests will be pleased. With features including artists such as SchoolBoy Q, Snoop Dogg, Future, and Nicki Minaj, Harris has the soundtrack of the season. However, his standout track is “Slide,” a hot collaboration with Frank Ocean and Migos. The piano introduction instantly draws a listener in before Ocean and Migos vocally bring breezy aesthetics to the track. Seriously, every song on Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 should be added to your Fourth of July playlist.
